Tree Service in Dunstable, MA

East Coast Tree Service provides tree removal, trimming and pruning, stump grinding, crane-assisted removal, Plant Health Care, cabling and bracing, storm cleanup, and 24/7 emergency tree service throughout Dunstable, MA.

Dunstable’s wooded properties, long driveways, historic homes, wetlands, stone walls, and mature trees create different access conditions from denser communities closer to Boston. East Coast plans the work around the actual property, whether the job involves a tall white pine over a house, a mature oak with storm damage, a tree near the Nashua River watershed, or a stump interfering with the next use of the yard.

Our team includes multiple ISA Certified Arborists. East Coast is a TCIA member and is fully licensed and insured for the work we perform, with general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Full cleanup is included. Free on-site estimates are typically scheduled within 1–2 business days and followed by a written estimate.

Emergency calls receive a response within up to 1 hour, with same-day emergency response available.

Call (781) 518-8014 for a free written tree service estimate in Dunstable.

ISA Certified Arborist Knowledge for Dunstable Tree Care

East Coast’s team includes multiple ISA Certified Arborists. ISA Certification covers professional knowledge in tree biology, pruning, diagnosis, soils, structural conditions, tree risk, and other areas that affect decisions about whether a tree should be pruned, preserved, supported, or removed.

Founder Tom FitzPatrick has more than 25 years of tree-care industry experience and holds an Associate of Science in Arboriculture and Community Forest Management from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass Amherst. Tom founded East Coast Tree Service in 2016. Learn more on our About East Coast Tree Service page.

The Massachusetts Certified Arborist credential associated with the Massachusetts Arborists Association is separate from ISA Certification. East Coast’s confirmed arborist credential is that our team includes multiple ISA Certified Arborists.

Tree Removal, Trimming, and Stump Grinding in Dunstable

A tree does not need removal simply because it is tall or close to a house. Deadwood, clearance issues, storm-broken branches, and selected structural problems may be addressed through tree trimming and pruning. Trees with serious root movement, extensive decay, major splits, or structural failure may need tree removal.

After removal, stump grinding can be included when the stump interferes with mowing, landscaping, construction, or normal use of the property.

East Coast normally removes branches, logs, chips, and job debris, with full cleanup included. If you want usable wood or chips left behind, request that when the written estimate is prepared.

Dunstable Town Forest, the Nashua River Watershed, and Local Tree Conditions

Dunstable’s rural character is closely tied to its forests and water resources. The Town’s current planning documents place Dunstable within the Merrimack River watershed, with surface and groundwater ultimately moving toward the Merrimack through waterways that include Salmon Brook and the Nashua River. The Nashua River is federally designated as a Wild and Scenic River.

The George Pierce Town Forest on Groton Street is another local reference point. The Town acquired the original forest in 1929, and early forestry efforts included large plantings of white pine, red pine, and spruce. Today Dunstable’s forests include white pine, red oak, red maple, hemlock, birch, hickory, black cherry, and other hardwood and conifer species.

Those species respond differently during tree work. Mature red oaks carry substantial limb weight. Tall white pines can put much of the crown above houses and neighboring property. Maples can develop broad canopies and large unions. Hemlocks may need attention when pest pressure and structural decline occur together.

Dunstable also contains wetlands and protected buffer areas. The Conservation Commission has reviewed projects involving selective tree cutting within a 100-foot wetland buffer, so tree work close to wetlands, Salmon Brook, the Nashua River, ponds, or other wet areas should be checked before cutting begins.

Crane-Assisted Tree Removal Over Dunstable Historic Properties

Dunstable Center is concentrated around Main, Pleasant, and High Streets and contains historic New England homes and civic buildings representing Colonial, Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Victorian, and Colonial Revival architecture. East Main Street also retains historic houses, barns, a schoolhouse, stone walls, mature trees, and older landscape features.

A large tree beside one of these properties can leave little acceptable room for uncontrolled wood. Roofs, porches, stone walls, septic areas, gardens, neighboring trees, and narrow equipment approaches all affect the removal method.

Crane-assisted tree removal can allow sections to be secured before cutting and lifted away from the house or another target. The estimator reviews crane reach, piece weight, driveway access, overhead utilities, ground conditions, outrigger setup, and the route used to move material off the property.

Where crane access does not make sense, controlled rigging and sectional removal may be the better approach.

Same-Day Emergency Response for Dunstable Storm Damage

Nor’easters, thunderstorms, wet snow, ice, and high winds can turn an existing defect into a tree emergency quickly. Saturated soil adds another concern because root anchorage can change even when the crown still appears intact.

Watch for a new lean, fresh soil cracking around the base, lifting of the root plate, hanging limbs, broken tops, split leaders, or a tree that has shifted toward a house, driveway, road, or utility line.

East Coast provides 24/7 emergency tree service. Emergency calls receive a response within up to 1 hour, and same-day emergency response is available.

National Grid continues to deliver electricity in Dunstable and handles power outages, even for residents participating in Dunstable Community Power. If a tree is touching an electrical conductor, stay away from it and contact the utility or emergency responders before ordinary tree work begins.

Plant Health Care and Tree Preservation in Dunstable

Removal is not the only option for a tree with a manageable problem. East Coast can perform Plant Health Care, tree cabling and bracing, and pruning when those services fit the tree and property.

Cabling or bracing can provide supplemental support in selected trees with structural weaknesses. Plant Health Care can address health-related conditions when the tree remains a reasonable candidate for preservation. Selective pruning can remove dead, damaged, or poorly attached material while retaining the tree.

A tree with major root-plate failure, extensive trunk decay, an unrecoverable split, or repeated structural failures beside a house may still require removal. The site visit gives the sales team a chance to look at the condition before the customer commits to one approach.

Licensed and Insured Tree Care for Dunstable Residents

East Coast Tree Service is fully licensed and insured for the work it performs in Massachusetts. The company carries general liability insurance and workers’ compensation insurance, is a member of the Tree Care Industry Association, and has multiple ISA Certified Arborists on the team.

Those details matter when work involves large trees, employees working at height, cranes, neighboring property, or structures underneath the canopy. Homeowners should be able to verify contractor coverage and understand what is included before a tree project begins.

East Coast serves residential and commercial properties and can also evaluate multi-tree projects, storm cleanup, and difficult-access removals.

Free On-Site Estimates for Dunstable Tree Projects

Free on-site estimates in Dunstable are typically scheduled within 1–2 business days. The visit is followed by a written estimate based on the tree and property rather than a generic price over the phone.

The salesperson can review tree size and visible condition, houses and garages, long driveways, lawns, stone walls, pools and fences, utility lines, potential crane access, rigging requirements, stump grinding, cleanup, and obvious wetland concerns.

You can also request a free estimate online.

Serving Dunstable and Surrounding Middlesex County Towns

Dunstable sits in northern Middlesex County near the New Hampshire line. Route 113/Pleasant Street, Main Street, Groton Street, East Main Street, High Street, and Westford Street connect the town center with wooded residential areas and neighboring communities. The Nashua River Rail Trail is another prominent local route through the region.

Nearby East Coast service areas include Tyngsborough, Chelmsford, Westford, Dracut, Lowell, Billerica, Tewksbury, Haverhill and Acton.

The broader service area also reaches Essex County through communities such as Lawrence and Andover. East Coast also maintains service pages for Wakefield and Woburn.

If you need removal, trimming, stump grinding, crane-assisted work, Plant Health Care, cabling or bracing, or emergency tree service in Dunstable, call (781) 518-8014 for a free on-site and written estimate.

East Coast came out yesterday to remove a dead tree, trim a very overgrown rhododendron and 2 holly bushes. The did a wonderful job. I also requested that the remove any other dead tree limbs in my woods. They were diligent in getting all the dead branches. The cleanup was remarkable. Highly recommend!

The dead trees and stumps were removed, and the larger trees are now nicely shaped, with undesirable branches gone and ready for new growth. Tom and his staff were well trained and very friendly, explaining and giving advise when asked.

Recently had some trees that needed to be cut back that were up high on ledge overhanging onto our property. Thinking the work would be done with traditional chainsaw(s) and workers climbing the tree, they had enough equipment to clear the Amazon forest! It was done by a crane with a claw and chainsaw built into the crane. They trimmed the tops of other trees that I would never be able to do without that kind of service. Impressive, and professional. Cleaned up as if they were never there. Reasonable and recommended

A tall pine tree fell in our backyard and was considered dangerous due to the angle of the fall. We called East Coast Tree Service and they came out within a couple of hours and gave us a reasonable estimate that was less than others. Less than 24 hours later, their skilled crew arrived and quickly took the tree down. Clean up was great accept for one branch from another tree that was left dangling. I called the office to ask them to return to take this branch out and they arrived within an hour of my call. Nothing short of amazing customer service!

I used this company last spring of 2021. They are professional priced fair and the owner was on the job himself and there workers were also polite and professional. They showed up on the date they scheduled and made no changes to the work date. They absolutely deserve your business and referrals. They clean up the work area after. I give them a 10 star rating and wouldn't recommend anyone else in the middlesex area. I had previously cut all the loose limbs off my trees that were removed before they came so nothing fell and it went smooth. I don't recommend Northeast tree co. Woburn ma. They are chasing me for money my neighbor owes them 2 years later. Pam the co family owner that works on the job and does estimates called me with no hesitation today to try and bully me for the money and left me a voicemail telling me I owe the rest and she's coming by my house to get it! I called them back and told them I know what there doing and said it's coming on a year and infact it's been 2years and said it's all under my name and she said she will leave me an invoice at my door and hung up on me . They think they can break the law and threaten to write fake contracts or invoices and charge people money they don't owe years later is illegal harassment and abuse. They were negligent and to take inappropriate action and I should have never received a call. I had used them 2 times and paid prior to jobs being done. This is how they treat repeat paying customers. I've saved the voicemail. I called the police they said i can send them a certified letter not to trespass and contact the better business bureau and looking to getting a harassment order and document everything.

These guys are awesome! We had a large land clearing job of around 80 trees, stumps and debris to remove. We bid it out to everyone in the area. Kevin and Tommy worked with us and came up with a plan and a very fair price. They finished everything in 2 and half days! From the start, they claimed after the work we wouldn't even know they had been there and they were right. I cannot believe how clean they left the driveway and lawn. They even came back a day later to clean up the street which I didn't even think needed it! The crew was extremely professional and nice and our kids loved watching all of the action. I would 100 percent recommend East Coast Tree, they are honest, fair and very good at what they do!

My husband and I couldn't be any happier with the amazing work of East Coast Tree Service. From start to finish the company has been responsive, reliable, honest and extremely professional. It was truly amazing to see this project in action. The whole team worked efficiently to provide the exact service we asked for. They made taking down 3 massive oak trees look easy as pie. Don't hesitate, I would highly recommend using this company for any of your tree service needs and we will be returning customers if ever we need their expertise again! Thanks so much to the team at East Coast Tree.

East Coast Tree did a fantastic job removing multiple trees from our property. They were not the lowest price but their equipment, friendly crew and reputation were well worth what they charge. We have used them twice now and they have been on time and done a very good job removing some difficult trees. The first job went well over the estimate for time required but they did not charge any additional money. Very reputable and highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Service in Dunstable, MA

Common Questions About

An ISA Certified Arborist has demonstrated professional knowledge in areas such as tree biology, pruning, diagnosis, soils, structural conditions, and tree risk. East Coast’s team includes multiple ISA Certified Arborists, which gives the company arboricultural knowledge to draw from when deciding whether a Dunstable tree should be pruned, preserved, supported, or removed.

East Coast provides 24/7 emergency service. Emergency calls receive a response within up to 1 hour, and same-day emergency response is available. Active storms, downed electrical lines, road conditions, and utility clearance can affect when physical tree work begins.

Crane-assisted removal can secure a tree section before it is cut and move that wood away from roofs, porches, stone walls, garages, pools, gardens, and other targets. This can reduce the amount of heavy material that must be lowered through a limited space. The crane setup still has to be evaluated for reach, piece weight, driveway access, utilities, soil conditions, and suitable outrigger placement.

Yes. East Coast can perform tree cabling and bracing when supplemental structural support is appropriate for the tree. The company can also perform Plant Health Care and pruning when preservation makes sense. Removal remains an option when roots, trunk condition, or major structural failure make retaining the tree unreasonable.

East Coast serves communities throughout northern Middlesex County and the broader service area, including Tyngsborough, Chelmsford, Westford, Dracut, Lowell, Billerica, Tewksbury, Acton, Woburn, and Wakefield. The company also serves Essex County communities such as Lawrence and Andover.

Yes. East Coast is fully licensed and insured for the work it performs and carries general liability insurance and workers’ compensation insurance. The company is also a TCIA member, and the team includes multiple ISA Certified Arborists.

Stump grinding can be included in the same written project scope as tree removal. The stump is ground down so it no longer creates the same obstacle for lawn use, landscaping, or future property work. The salesperson can confirm whether stump grinding is scheduled with the removal or during a separate visit. Full cleanup is included with the agreed work.

East Coast responds to fallen trees, trees or large limbs on structures, blocked driveways, storm-broken branches, split trunks, unstable trees, root-plate movement, and other urgent tree hazards. If electrical lines are involved, National Grid or emergency responders may need to address the electrical hazard before tree work can proceed.
